Privacy Policy

Local-first, zero-telemetry by design.

Last updated: 3 July 2026 · Draft template — please review with your own or legal counsel before publishing.

This is a starting template based on how alloNous apps are built (local-first, no analytics). It is not legal advice. Confirm it matches each app's actual behavior and your jurisdiction's requirements before relying on it for App Store submission.

1. Overview

alloNous ("we", "us") builds small desktop utilities for macOS. Our guiding principle is simple: your data is yours. Our apps are designed to work locally on your device and do not collect personal information or use third-party tracking or advertising.

2. Information we do not collect

Across our apps, we do not collect, sell, or share personal data. In particular, we do not:

  • Collect names, emails, or account identifiers (our apps do not require an account).
  • Use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
  • Transmit your documents, files, media, filenames, dictionary lookups, photos, or playback history off your device.

3. Local processing

Content you open or create — text and code (Plainwell), archives (Zipwell), dictionary lookups and saved vocabulary (Dictwell), photos and triage decisions (Pyxis), and media playback and conversion (Rill) — is processed on your device. App settings, history, and saved items are stored locally on your Mac.

4. Network activity

Our apps are built to function without a network connection. Limited network activity may occur for:

  • App and system updates — delivered by Apple through the App Store, subject to Apple's privacy practices.
  • Optional links you choose to open (for example, a support email or website).

If an individual app introduces any additional network feature, that app's listing and this policy will describe it before release.

5. Purchases

Any purchases or subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment details. Apple's handling of transactions is governed by Apple's privacy policy.

6. Third-party components

Our apps use open-source components (for example, media and archive libraries) that run locally on your device. These components process your content on-device and are not used to transmit data to us or third parties.

7. Children's privacy

Our apps are general-purpose tools and are not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Your choices & rights

Because your data stays on your device, you remain in control: you can delete app data by removing files or uninstalling the app. Where applicable law grants you rights over personal data, note that we hold no personal data about you to access, correct, or delete on our servers.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our apps evolve. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date.
